Anthony Gaskin is a partner in the Asset Management Department at Matheson.
He advises clients on a wide range of fund vehicles and structures, focusing on private asset sponsors (private equity, private credit and infrastructure).
Anthony recently led a project to establish the first Irish ELTIFs and has significant experience advising private asset sponsors looking to establish investor-facing vehicles using ILPs and ICAVs, as well as on carried interest, co-invest and employee participation vehicles.
Areas of Expertise
Anthony also advises on UCITS and other liquid-fund structures, including ETFs and other index-tracking and active strategies. In addition to fund formation, Anthony also regularly advises clients on the marketing of investment funds in Ireland and other jurisdictions, as well as on sustainable finance and other pieces of legislation applicable to Irish and European investment funds.
Anthony is actively involved at industry level in Ireland and has sat on a number of committees of Irish Funds, the industry association in Ireland, and also regularly presents at industry events, both in person and online.
Experience and Education
Anthony’s recent experience includes advising on:
- the structuring and financing of private funds established as regulated and unregulated structures, including Waterland Private Equity on the formation of its €3.5 billion Waterland Private Equity Fund IX and the formation of its €500 million Waterland Partnership Fund I;
- migration of a number of private asset structures to Ireland, from Guernsey, Canada and other jurisdictions;
- establishment of the first Irish ELTIFs, for PGIM Private Capital; and
- establishment of an Irish AIFM for Octopus Energy.
