This is an opportunity to join the Matheson LLP (“Matheson”) tax practice, the largest tax practice group amongst Irish law firms, advising leading corporations and financial institutions doing business in and from Ireland. We are hiring a tax lawyer or tax advisor to join our team to work directly with our international client base on complex and challenging tax matters, with a focus on the financial sector.

About the role
You will have the opportunity to be involved across a range of matters, whilst also having the opportunity to focus on your areas of strength. The role will be with a group within our tax practice which primarily advises on:
- securitisation, capital markets and structured finance transactions;
- investment banking and banking transactions;
- private equity transactions;
- international tax for corporate reorganisations, restructurings and inward investment projects relating to the financial sector in Ireland;
- asset and project finance, including aircraft and equipment leasing; and
- tax controversy and tax litigation relating to the financial sector.

Technology Lawyer
The market-leading Technology and Innovation group in Matheson LLP (“Matheson”) is seeking to build on its ongoing growth and success. The group, which is the longest established technology practice in Ireland, is acknowledged to be at the cutting edge of technology related legal developments. The group advises on all aspects of technology related legal advice, providing strategic, practical and commercially focused advice to international and domestic clients across multiple sectors. The work includes advising on digital services and content regulation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data protection and privacy matters, intellectual property and strategic and business critical contracts, both transactional and advisory. The role
This is a senior role within the Technology and Innovation group, where you will:
- Lead on challenging and innovative technology law projects for a variety of clients;
- Work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary specialist teams (including Matheson’s Digital Economy Group) on high value and business critical client projects;
- Manage junior and associate solicitors on client advisory matters across the full range of technology, digital services and privacy issues;

Professional Support Lawyer - Finance and Capital Markets
We are recruiting a Professional Support Lawyer in the Finance and Capital Markets department in Matheson. You are likely to be an experienced finance lawyer, with a background and interest in Banking and Finance. The role can be full-time or part-time and is flexible within our hybrid working model. The successful candidate will work closely with the partners in FCM and the Head of Knowledge Management.
About the role
You will be working within the existing FCM Knowledge Management function and will have scope to develop the role in line with the latest legal developments and new ways of working including thought leadership, implementation of AI and digital products and distribution of legal content internally and externally using digital platforms and media.
Role includes:
- Contributing to the effective design, implementation and management of the firm’s Knowledge Management function;
- Monitoring new and proposed legislation, case law, changes in law & practice developments;
- Preparing updates, analysis and insights for our team and our clients;
- Providing technical expertise and support to the team, conducting research and providing training;
- Updating precedents, practice notes and other internal knowledge material;
- Collaborating on the design and delivery of innovative value-add services to clients; and

IP Lawyer (3-5 PQE)
We have an opportunity for an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) lawyer to join our IP Disputes team. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on complex IP disputes for major international and domestic clients across sectors such as technology, life sciences, and consumer goods, mentor junior members of the team and work closely with the partners to help grow and develop the practice.
In this role you will:
- Work on complex multi-jurisdictional IP disputes for a variety of clients, collaborating with in-house counsel on global IP strategies.
- Work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary specialist teams on high value and business critical client projects;
- Manage junior and associate lawyers and help mentor and develop them;

The person
- You are a solicitor with 3 to 5 years PQE in IP matters;
- You have experience covering the full spectrum of IP matters, including trade marks, patents, copyright, designs, and trade secrets;
- You have experience of managing IP portfolios, filings before the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland and EUIPO;
- You have experience of IP licensing, assignments, and commercial agreements;

L&D Programme Lead

L&D Programme Lead
We have an opportunity to join our learning and development team where you will work on interesting and high impact firm projects and development programmes. In this role you will coordinate multiple development programmes (referred to as ‘Pathways’), support leadership development and employee engagement initiatives, and contribute to the successful implementation of the firm’s Learning Management Platform. Matheson’s Learning and Development team embraces our values of Innovation and Entrepreneurship by striving for continuous improvement, and embracing new thinking as well as new ways of working. This role reports to the L&D Senior Manager.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Oversee the design and delivery of a number of structured development programmes for lawyers and business service professionals;
- Coordinate the delivery of leadership programmes as part of our performance development;
- Manage the relationship, quality and return on investment of programmes delivered in partnership with external training providers;
- Design and facilitate learning events and campaigns for employee engagement which aim to further enhance our culture, strengthen connection and promote peer learning;
- Collaborate and support our presenters in sharing their knowledge, experience and skills;
- Facilitate our culture of mentoring, particularly through the promotion of the firm’s mentoring platform;
- Work proactively with the Senior Manager and Director of L&D on strategic firm-wide projects, recommending innovative ways to meet business needs which may include both internal development or client focused development initiatives;
- Project manage the delivery of learning and development solutions / campaigns in line with budget and timelines;
- Develop reports measuring quantitative and qualitative data on our structured development programmes, making recommendations for changes as appropriate;
- Identify new and innovative ways to deliver learning and development pathways to enhance the overall impact of the programmes and the attraction, development and engagement of talent;
- Work effectively with colleagues to anticipate and identify training needs, and plan the training calendar based on training / business needs;
- Identify new providers as required to meet business needs;
- Leverage the firm’s learning management system, particularly as a means of offering individualised, self-paced and self-driven development; and
- Design all learning and development programmes to ensure alignment with the firm’s learning and development strategy.
The person
- You ideally have experience in the professional services sector but not essential;
