Andrew is an Aviation Finance and Transportation Partner in the Finance and Capital Markets Department at Matheson LLP and advises on all aspects of aviation, shipping, rail and other asset financing, trading and leasing matters.

Andrew has extensive experience acting for a broad range of aviation clients including leasing companies, airlines, banks, and funds on a variety of aviation financing and leasing products and structures including operating leases, finance leases, sale and leasebacks, JOLCO structures, debt finance (bilateral, syndicated and warehouse facilities), joint ventures, capital market issuances (secured asset backed securitisations and unsecured bonds) pre-delivery payment financing, Islamic financing, and export credit agency supported financing.

Experience and Education

Andrew has advised:

  • an Irish aircraft lessor in connection with a Term Loan B financing including a USD 988 million debt financing facility, the issuance of USD 550 million of senior unsecured notes and a Term Loan B facility in an amount of approx. USD 460 million.
  • an aircraft lessor on a Sharia’h compliant warehouse facility to finance the acquisition of a portfolio of commercial aircraft.
  • on a number asset-backed-securitisation structures.
  • financial institutions, aircraft lessors and private investors on a variety of acquisition financing facilities and term loan facilities secured by portfolios of fixed-wing aircraft, spare engines, business jets and rotor aircraft.
  • companies on establishing aircraft and aircraft engine leasing platforms in Ireland.
  • on the applicability of the Cape Town Convention and Aircraft Protocol.
  • Admitted as a solicitor in Ireland – 2017
  • Admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales (non-practising)

  • Oxford Institute of Legal Practice, Diploma in Legal Practice and Masters of Law

Andrew is a lecturer on the Law Society of Ireland’s Certificate course in Aviation Leasing and Finance.
